Sunday Sermon Series
Join us at ECC for our new Sunday morning sermon series on the book of Nehemiah!
A home away from home church. One love. One heart. One family. “Ekhaya” translates to “home”.
For us, a home is a special place where you find a family—not necessarily a perfect one, but a group of imperfect people who support each other and grow together. We are committed to authenticity, encouraging one another as we journey through life side by side.
At Ekhaya Community Church, our foundation is built upon the Zulu word “Umphakathi”, which means “we are all together on the inside.” This value is at the core of our mission, as we strive to create an environment where everyone feels a genuine sense of togetherness and belonging. We want every person who enters our church to experience not only a warm welcome but also the deep joy that comes from being part of a supportive and caring community.
Our Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of the church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, under the guidance and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Our lead pastor and the elders (His Team) have the spiritual oversight of the church
In the Bible —Is God’s love letter to humanity and that through the Scriptures God communicates His heart with us. We believe that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God, serving as the ultimate foundation for doctrine, faith, and daily living. (2 Timothy 3:16)
In the Triune Godhead — one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Jesus Christ dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9); He is fully God and fully man, the exact representation of the Father.
In the blessed hope of the Church — the imminent, personal, and glorious return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:13)
In salvation by grace through faith — that forgiveness and cleansing from sin come only through genuine repentance and unwavering faith in the atoning sacrifice and precious blood of Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer. (Ephesians 2:6-9) (Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22).
In the baptism, indwelling, Filling of the Holy Spirit — as experienced by believers in Acts 2:4, available to all who ask in faith. We affirm the continuation of the gifts of the Spirit for the edification of the Church and the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
In sanctification through the Holy Spirit — who indwells, empowers, and enables believers to live in holiness, spiritual maturity, and obedience to God.
In the bodily resurrection — of both the righteous and the unrighteous: the saved to everlasting life in God’s presence, and the lost to eternal separation and judgment, as revealed in Scripture.
In water baptism by immersion — as an ordinance commanded by Christ, symbolizing the believer’s identification with His death, burial, and resurrection.
In the unity of the Church — that all baptised believers are one body in Christ. Jesus is the head of the Church, and each member is uniquely gifted and positioned for service (1 Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 1:22). Believers are never told to become one; we already are one and are expected to act like it. “On the essentials, unity. On the nonessentials, liberty. In everything, charity.” – Jack Hyles
In the Five-Fold Ministry (Some of these terms and offices have been abused
By self-appointed MOG and WOG) apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers — along with eldership, for the equipping of the saints and the edification of the Church, in accordance with the New Testament model.
In the Lord’s Supper — a sacred ordinance instituted by Jesus Christ, commemorating His suffering and death, and proclaiming His return. ((Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34).
Our vision as the church is summed up in our mission statement.
Our vision is to see people freed from extreme poverty, living transformed lives, and fulfilling their God-given potential.
As Christians, we follow Jesus’ example. We seek to be Christ-centred, compassionate, courageous, truthful and servant-hearted in everything we do.
Our mission is to follow Jesus where the need is greatest, responding to crises and partnering with local churches and organisations to help people lift themselves out of poverty and injustice.
As we pursue this vision, we have four main focuses:
We respond swiftly and effectively to address immediate needs when crises and disasters strike vulnerable communities. We are partnering with Christians and organisations to combat and eradicate social ills that cause individuals to live below their potential.
We envision, empower, and equip Christians to become catalysts for positive transformation in the world.
We support communities in building resilience against shocks and stresses, enabling them to work towards a brighter future for themselves and those around them.
We strive to influence and reform social, political, and economic systems and policies so that the poorest communities have access to essential services and opportunities needed to flourish.
No matter your background or where you come from, Ekhaya Community Church is a place where you can truly belong. Our intention is to ensure that every individual experiences the joy that comes from a sense of true belonging feeling included, valued, and connected. Here, each person is invited to share in the warmth and happiness that comes from being an integral part of a loving church family.
Ekhaya Community Church is a unique space where people from many cultures, backgrounds, and nationalities can come together and truly become family. We celebrate our diversity, cherishing the unity that arises from our differences. We do not limit ourselves to narrow definitions of belonging, but instead, we find authentic unity in our shared journey together.
When Jesus commanded Peter to “feed my sheep,” He was inviting him—and all of us—to offer spiritual care to one another. At Ekhaya.C.C, we encourage everyone to engage personally with the Word of God, taking time to read, reflect, and draw spiritual nourishment from the Scriptures.
Home is where hospitality is practised, and at Ekhaya, we use shared meals to reflect and embody the radically inclusive nature of God’s Kingdom.
Once a month, our Family Connection Lunch welcomes everyone to experience the warmth of South African cuisine and “swallowship”. These shared meals allow us to strengthen relationships and foster lasting bonds, create fond memories, and reinforce the sense of family that is at the heart of our church.

ECC gathered together during the Easter Season to remember Jesus’ death and celebrate his resurrection.
Our Ekhaya Connect ZOOM sessions offer a more intimate way to connect with God, with ourselves, and with one another. These gatherings are designed to nurture meaningful relationships and spiritual growth within a warm and supportive environment.
Typically, we revisit the Scripture passage from the Sunday morning service, allowing us to explore the Word more deeply. This encourages open dialogue, thoughtful reflection, and deeper understanding. Through these discussions, we create space for personal insight and collective growth, strengthening our faith as a community.
The principle behind these meetings is captured in the Zulu word “Ukufundisa”, a causative verb meaning “you learn, and I learn and together we grow.” In this way, we all teach and encourage one another, fostering a spirit of mutual growth and support.
